The University of Ljubljana
The University of Ljubljana expresses its great concern and strong condemnation of the military intervention in Ukraine, which is a serious violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and international law. We stand firm in defence of the values of a free society and extend our solidarity with all people of Ukraine caught up in the violence in their homeland.
Our deep thoughts and concerns go especially to you, our academic and research colleagues in Ukraine. We sincerely hope that you and your families are safe. Let me assure you that we will make our best efforts for assisting and supporting you with whatever you would need.
At the moment we work toward providing support and help to students from Ukraine who study at our University and are a part of our community. I am setting up a working group to ensure that Ukrainian students receive all the support they need, including psychological and financial support and legal advice. We are ready to implement the necessary measures without delay.
The University of Ljubljana remains an open and inclusive university based on democracy, human rights, freedom of academic and scientific activity. We also insist on these civilizational values in the context of the European and international associations in which we operate. Within the association The Guild we have called on Europe’s governments, and the EU, to enable our universities to support Ukrainian students and staff on our campuses, and through the provision of distance education where needed. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
I wish you strength and courage in these difficult times.
