WUNU representatives at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Representatives of West Ukrainian National University took part in events at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH-Dortmund, Germany). The delegation included: professor Anatoliy Sachenko, associate professors Hryhorii Hladii, Pavlo Bykovyi, Khrystyna Lipianina-Honcharenko, Svitlana Sachenko, graduate student Ivan Kit, students of specialty 122 "Computer Science" Alina Kozak, Anna Melnyk and Natalia Madarash. The trip was organized with the financial support of the DAAD "Eastern Partnership", Erasmus+ "Academic Mobility for Study" programmes, and the international DAAD project "Virtual Master's Interaction in Intelligent Data Processing" (ViMaCs).
Over the 9 days, scientists and students took part in the following activities: XIII Annual International Scientific Conference IRC 2022, where 136 participants from 18 countries gathered to listen to presentations on current topics in the field of digital transformation, education, employment, project management and sustainable development. Reports from WUNU were presented by Khrystyna Lipianina-Honcharenko and Ivan Kit. Participants also had the opportunity to attend master classes in 3D printing and laser cutting, mobile robotics, creative research and reporting on climate change projects. Also, as part of the DAAD "Eastern Partnership" programme, Khrystyna Lipianina-Honcharenko and Ivan Kit received a grant for a one-month internship at FH-Dortmund to work on doctoral and candidate theses.
Students studied at the Summer School "Advanced Perspectives in the Field of Data Science" within the DAAD project ViMaCs, where in the morning they listened to lectures by teachers, associate professors and professors from Ukraine and Dortmund, and in the afternoon they worked in teams on research projects "Automatic recognition of license plates", "Recognition of silhouettes of curfew violators", "Classification of fruit images with the help of neural networks" led by Oleksandr Hrubych, a representative of the IT company Blacktron.AI.
Within the framework of the Erasmus+ project Work4CE, the teaching staff attended a masterclass (Train-the-Trainer) on the topic Problem- and Challenge-based Learning to Train Essential Skills within the Project Environment organized by the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains. Participants of the Erasmus+ international project Work4CE from Germany, Ukraine, Spain, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Azerbaijan also took part in the workshop, where they summarized the interim results and discussed the problems of implementing the project in modern realities.
Scientists from WUNU (Anatoliy Sachenko, Pavlo Bykovyi, Svitlana Sachenko, Khrystyna Lipianina-Honcharenko) and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Carsten Wolff, Thorsten Ruben) discussed a number of issues related to the organization of the joint international IEEE conference IDAACS-2023 on September 6-9, 2023 in Dortmund.
Scientists and students of West Ukrainian National University were awarded certificates. In total, they had 9 rich and interesting days of fruitful work and unforgettable experiences.
