Fourth International Week has started!
Today marks an important event at West Ukrainian National University - the Fourth International Week, which was first introduced in Ukraine in September 2019.
This academic event is a testament to the importance of developing education and science under modern conditions, now more than ever before. War has divided our lives into before and after, but we must keep our thoughts on the futures and what our country will be like tomorrow.
International Week is a platform for communication: lively discussions, interesting ideas, and new approaches to problem-solving for education and science in conditions of war.
International Week organized by the classical university of Ternopil is possible due to the support of the international community, our reliable partners and steadfast friends from Poland, Slovakia, Japan, France. Germany, Croatia, Canada, Czech Republic, Austria, Norway, the USA, Ecuador, the UK, Spain, China, Kuweit, Kenya, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Bulgaria who have now been supporting us for one hundred and five days straight. Your aid in the field of education and science is also an effective weapon against the enemy that aims to destroy the Ukrainian identity.
Welcoming the participants, the rector of classical university of Ternopil, Andriy Krysovatyy emphasized:
"We live, work and develop for the sake of a new Ukraine – free, European, progressive, strong.
The development of education and science is especially important in the times of war, when we are faced with new challenges and threats. We are strong, we are unbreakable, because Ukrainian teachers and students are armed both intellectually and on actual battlefields. They are defending the borders and sovereignty of our Ukraine, so glory and honour to our defenders!
I wish to thank everyone who will join us in the forthcoming days during our event, as this is a unique opportunity to unite the participants from different countries and universities of the world and to create a community that will present the latest research concepts, exchange ideas and developments to broaden and deepen the cooperation between partners in international educational, scientific and project activities."
Oksana Desyatnyuk, vice-rector for Academic Affairs and Research (International Relations), addressed the audience:
"The war has united the Ukrainian nation more than ever before; it has mobilized all our capacities to cut the enemy off at their knees. It has touched every family and become a part of our everyday lives. Now victory is the common goal of an entire people."
Our foreign partners shared their best wishes and ideas as well, namely Iveta Mietule (Rector of Rezekne Academy of Technologies, Latvia), Wojciech Duczmal (Rectorof Higher School of Management and Administration in Opole, Poland), Jan Van Zwieten (Rector of Netherlands Business Academy, the Netherlands), Marlies Springorum (Coordinator of Internationalisation at Inholland University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands), Anetta Zielinska (professor of Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, Poland), Fryderyk Zoll (professor of Jagiellonian University, Poland and Osnabrück University, Germany), Dr. Latif Durlanik (professor of Hamburg University, Germany), Dr. Christoph Leitl (President of EYFON Forum in Neumarkt, Austria).
