Recently, students and teachers had the opportunity to attend the online webinar "Implementation of the EU Sales of Goods Directive and the EU Digital Content Directive - main achievements, remaining problems and missed opportunities" by Alberto De Franceschi, professor of private law, digital law and environmental sustainability at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Ferrara (Italy).

Key points of discussion:

With the development of digital technologies, there was a need to develop new legal structures that would ensure an adequate level of copyright protection in the European Union and at the international level.
In May 2019, the European Parliament and the Council adopted Directive 2019/770 on contracts for the supply of digital content and digital services, which entered into force for EU member states on January 1, 2022.

In Ukraine, the digital content and digital service market is not developing as quickly as compared to European countries. One of the defining reasons for the slow development of this sector of the market is the lack of legal regulation of the provision of digital content and (or) digital services to consumers.
