The UN Global Water Conference has recently taken place. The event was held for the first time in 46 years and, given the current climate and environmental challenges, will become an important benchmark for the decade. This conference is an impetus for the implementation of the developments made by a team of experts and representatives of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at overcoming the environmental consequences of russia's military aggression.

Leonid Bytsiura, Acting Head of the Department of Ecology and Health of the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure, member of the International Water Association, also participated in the discussion. Prof. Bytsiura presented the main points of water issues in our country and the most critical issues of Ukraine's ecology during the full-scale war. The presentation was broadcast live by the UN media.

The key focus of the speech was on ensuring a special security regime for nuclear reactor cooling reservoirs, hydraulic facilities, and public water supply facilities, as they are the most vulnerable to terrorist attacks by the russian aggressor. The participants also proposed relevant amendments to the draft conference resolution.
