Meeting with German Professor of Negotiations Remigiusz Smolinski
To ensure the quality of the educational program "Psychology of Negotiation and Mediation", the administration of the Education and Research Institute of Communications of WUNU systematically establishes cooperation with specialists in the field of negotiation and mediation from around the world.
Recently, Oksana Koval, Director of the Institute, met with Remigiusz Smolinski, a well-known German negotiator. Anastasia Martynevych, ERIC's coordinator for international activities, also joined the conversation.
Prof. Smolinski works at the HHL Graduate School of Management in Leipzig, Germany. His research focuses on the theory and practice of negotiation, particularly in international settings and the management of innovation. He has been a visiting scholar at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the Harvard University Negotiation Program. He has researched and taught courses on negotiation at various institutions in Germany, Austria, Denmark, Poland, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Smolinski has held senior positions in media, e-commerce and consulting companies, and he actively advises his clients on innovation management and trains their executives in negotiating skills.
Having taught negotiation at the world's leading business schools for almost two decades, Dr. Smolinski is the founder of The Negotiation Challenge, an international competition for students from the world's leading universities and practicing negotiation professionals.
In view of the soon-to-be-opened Ukrainian Negotiation Center at the ERIC in cooperation with Philip Brown (UK), head of The Negotiation Club, which will serve as an open platform for practice and research of various models and styles of negotiation, it is appropriate to form an international professional community to cover a wide range of unique experiences of representatives from different countries and professional schools of negotiation.
Therefore, the parties discussed the details of cooperation, agreed to involve professor Smolinski in teaching in Ternopil, additional practice-oriented platforms and the participation of students of the Negotiation Psychology and Mediation program in the international negotiation competition "The Negotiation Challenge" to be held in 2024.
The Negotiation Challenge was founded in 2007 as the first international negotiation competition in Europe and one of the few international negotiation competitions in the world. The main idea behind The Negotiation Challenge (TNC) is to bring together the world's best student negotiators and allow them to compare their negotiation skills and thus prepare for the challenging negotiations they will face after graduation. During the event, university students compete with each other in realistic cases. Participation in TNC offers a great opportunity to experience different ways of negotiating, as well as to meet and network with students from different countries with different backgrounds and cultures who share a passion for negotiation.
The students and faculty of the Ternopil program will also have the opportunity to join the International Negotiation Training and Research Association (INTRA), founded by Dr. Peter Kesting and Dr. Remy Smolinski.
We sincerely look forward to productive communication with Professor Smolinski and hope for fruitful cooperation.
