Meeting with Latvian volunteers
Latvian volunteers visited West Ukrainian National University.
The delegation, headed by Ogre Mayor Egils Helmanis, met with Oksana Desyatnyuk, Rector of WUNU, Uliana Koruts, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research (International Relations), Viktor Ostroverkhov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, and Ivan Buhai, Director of the Education and Research Center for the Conversion of Military Personnel and War Veterans.
Mr. Helmanis was one of the first diplomats to visit Chernihiv back in April, after a little over a month of siege and active fighting, and he also traveled to the front line to see firsthand how Ukrainian soldiers stand for the freedom of their country and brought aid to the military.
Oksana Desyatnyuk thanked the volunteers and said: "Thank you very much for not turning a blind eye to the war in Ukraine and for helping our people in every way possible. With your support, I am sure we will be stronger!"
Mr. Helmanis noted that this is a war not only between Ukraine and Russia, but also between the entire civilized world versus the aggressor.
A constructive dialog was held on new prospects for the development of cooperation between the university and the community of Ogre.
