To increase the level of financial literacy of the population, especially young people, who represent the progressive consciousness and values of the future, events dedicated to the Financial Literacy Week are being held at West Ukrainian National University.

Students of Ternopil Gymnasium No. 30 and Ternopil Classical Lyceum visited WUNU. Yaroslav Tchaikovsky, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Technologies and Banking of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, conducted an interesting excursion to the Museum of Money. The children showed interest in his story about money circulation in Ukraine: from the coins of the Greek polises of the Northern Black Sea region of the 5th and 2nd centuries BC and the coins of Western Europe of the 15th and 16th centuries to the Soviet banknotes of the perestroika era. They learnt a lot about the national currency, from the ninth-century weighing and counting unit and silver bullion of the 11th-13th centuries to the first money of the Ukrainian People's Republic (1917-1920) and the modern hryvnia. They were impressed by the exhibits on display: unique collections of commemorative and anniversary coins, including those of Ukraine; briquettes of recycled 10 zloty and 100 zloty banknotes of the National Bank of Poland; and a portable banknote detector.

The intellectual game "What? Where? When?", prepared and conducted by the students of the first bachelor's degree programme in Finance (Vita Vita Yurchyshyn, Tetiana Tkachuk, Violeta Mykhailovska and Oleksandra Viryk) evoked many emotions. The teams of students from the gymnasium and lyceum, as well as first-year students of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting of WUNU fought hard for the victory during five rounds. They deepened their knowledge of family budgeting, savings and investments, and the use of new financial products. The winner was a team of students from Ternopil Gymnasium No. 30 called the Proniatyn Mafia.

The coordinators of the event - PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Iryna Krupiak, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Bohdana Shuliuk - thanked all the participants for their creativity and active participation and wished them inspiration for further achievements in peaceful Ukraine.
