Meeting with negotiation expert Philip Brown
Recently, the Ukrainian Negotiation Club held a meeting at the Education and Research Institute of Communications of West Ukrainian National University, coordinated online by Philip Brown, a negotiations expert and founder of the UK Negotiation Club.
One of the key features of this event was the personal methodology of Philip Brown, which is based on the use of special cards for negotiations. These cards help structure the discussion and make it more effective.
The negotiation session included a variety of tactics developed by the expert. One of the key elements was "summarising", which allowed participants to recap the key points of the discussion to ensure that all parties understood the positions. "Mirror words" served as a tool for active listening and reflecting the points of view of other participants. The participants also learnt the tactic of "range setting", which helps to define the boundaries of possible compromise. "Saying no" highlights important points when unacceptable conditions or points of view need to be highlighted.
During the practical part of the meeting, Mr Philip Brown not only observed, but also gave advice and comments on how to improve negotiation techniques. His experience and expertise have become an integral addition to the development of the skills of the club members. Such events help to improve the level of negotiation skills of students of the Master's programme in Psychology of Negotiation and Mediation and other club members and contribute to building a constructive dialogue, which is an important aspect of modern society. Next week, there will be another meeting with many discussions and important interactions between the club members to further develop their negotiation skills.
