An open lecture by Ludvikas Babaliauskas, Global Sales Director of Nando (Lithuania)
An open lecture "Sustainable and cost-effective plant protection products and water use with Nando adjuvants" was held for students of the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure of West Ukrainian National University.
The speaker - Liudvikas Babaliauskas, global sales director of Nando (Lithuania).
Ukraine is now on its way to joining the EU, and we understand that the requirements of the EGD (European Green Deal) are not only about reducing carbon emissions, but also about requirements for products supplied to the EU, new environmental standards, and measures to improve biodiversity. However, our country needs to make balanced decisions in implementing EGD requirements, taking into account the differences in industrial and economic plans between Europe and Ukraine when adapting these norms to Ukrainian realities.
A good example is the use of plant protection products (PPPs). The EU has declared a 50% reduction in their use by 2030. By the same time, the EU plans to use a quarter of all agricultural land for growing environmentally friendly products in accordance with the new Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production. With a rapid reduction in the use of plant protection products under the Green Deal, the development of the agricultural sector in Ukraine, which is currently a donor to the national economy, may slow down, which will negatively affect the revenues of local budgets, foreign exchange earnings, the number of jobs, etc. Therefore, the efficient use of plant protection products, the development of innovative products and technologies for their application are of great importance.
During the lecture, the speaker highlighted the expediency and economic feasibility of using adjuvants in plant protection products. In addition, the students were demonstrated the effect of certain innovative products of Nando (Lithuania) - Foamex defoamer, Perifolis organosilicone adhesive and pHwaterPower water conditioner. The lecture was organised with the support of AgroExpert.
