An event to support our valiant heroes
An event in support of our brave soldiers was held at West Ukrainian National University. This is our way of helping and expressing our gratitude to the soldiers who are defending our land! The event raised funds to purchase FPV drones for the 3rd separate assault brigade and the 105th separate territorial defence brigade.
The event was initiated by young student activists, the campus administration and the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Environmental Management and Infrastructure of WUNU. However, this event would not have been possible without the support of all students, teachers, and the administration of WUNU, as well as sponsors. After all, West Ukrainian National University is a big family that supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine: materially, morally and spiritually. Teachers and students are constantly volunteering, buying drones, cars for the military, weaving nets and doing many, many other useful things.
The event was opened by Oksana Desyatnyuk, Rector of the University, who said in her welcoming speech: "We are proud of our students, we are proud that they are always the best in everything: in their studies, in sports, and in such initiatives that demonstrate their patriotism. Since the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of our country, we have grown even closer together as a large, united university family. Side by side, we do our best every day to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We honour the defenders of Ukraine who are fighting for our independence with incredible efforts and give us the opportunity to work and study!"
The entire civilised world admires the courage and bravery of Ukrainian defenders who, through their daily work, sweat and blood, prove to everyone that we will survive and win. The university family had the honour to welcome one of the unbreakable fighters, Anatolii Leonenko, call sign "Buffalo", to the assembly hall of the university.
The 22-year-old Chernihiv resident, a fighter with the Azov Special Forces Brigade, lost his left leg during the battle for Mariupol and after rehabilitation became a firearms and tactical training instructor, teaching young soldiers.
The guest's extremely emotional stories about his life, combat injury and unbreakable spirit made the audience hold their breath. The entire hall was filled with applause, expressing respect for the Hero.
The evening continued with a charity auction, during which everyone had the opportunity to purchase valuable items.
The most expensive lot was a flag signed by the instructors of the Yevhen Konovalets Military Commanders School, which trains military personnel according to NATO standards, purchased by the rector of WUNU. A unique model of the AN-225 Mriya aircraft, the world's largest cargo plane, printed on a 3D printer by the Digital Transformation Office of WUNU, was sold at an auction to the university administration.
Art lovers eagerly competed for "Calm in the midst of chaos" by Rustam Davletov and "Evening Ternopil" by Viktoriia Sharak. A set of tubes "Play, Eye, Tour" painted by students of the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure of WUNU and a tube for transporting shells "Code of Invincibility" painted by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities were also of great interest to the audience.
The partners of the event were the WEST company, the VITREBENKY V KUMY bakery shop, the friendly Mamont restaurant, Vandal VapeShop, Natalia Pankiv (deputy of the Ternopil City Council), and Mark Jones (representative of Hospital safety and the humanitarian organisation MEDGlobal).
We sincerely thank everyone who joined the event for your good intentions and donations.
We are confident that Ukrainians are a proud, strong and unconquerable nation that fearlessly fights the enemy for their freedom.
We will endure! We will withstand! We will win!
Thank you all! Glory to Ukraine!
