Roundtable "Public Diplomacy in Action: Institutional Experience of the World and Ukraine"
The second stage of the joint project between WUNU and the State Enterprise "Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions" came to an end with a roundtable discussion as part of a special short-term programme "Public Diplomacy as a Tool of Soft Power".
The project is being implemented by West Ukrainian National University with the support of the German Hanns Seidel Foundation in Ukraine in partnership with the State Enterprise GDIP, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine and the NGO "Initiative Generation".
The purpose of the roundtable was to start a dialogue between civil servants of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps and representatives of cultural institutions of other countries, as well as to develop skills in using the state's cultural achievements to create a positive image of Ukraine.
The Department of International Economics and the Department of International Economic Relations of the Bohdan Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations of WUNU acted as co-organisers.
97 people joined the roundtable, 26 of whom were the faculty, postgraduates and students of West Ukrainian National University. The event was also attended by experts, representatives of cultural diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Czech Republic and employees of honorary consulates.
The event was moderated by Inna Khomenska, PhD in Philology, Head of the Media Centre of the GDIP SE, and Romana Kasiyanchuk, Master of International Relations, Head of the Media Centre's Advertising and Publishing Department.
The final stage of the project will follow in September 2024 in the form of a training course on the Communication Strategy of Public Authorities. Prof. Iryna Zvarych, Prof. Iryna Ivashchuk and Inna Khomenska, PhD in Philology, Director of the Media Centre of the State Enterprise "GDIP", developed the content for the roundtable and two training sessions.
This subject is a priority for the Department of International Economics, as a new bachelor's degree programme in Economic Diplomacy has been launched in the field of study 29 International Relations.
