The Second International Scientific and Practical Conference "Transformations in Social Sciences and Humanities in Modern Ukrainian Education in the Context of War: Challenges, Problems and Prospects"
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of West Ukrainian National University hosted the Second International Scientific and Practical Conference "Transformations in Social Sciences and Humanities in Modern Ukrainian Education in the Context of War: Challenges, Problems and Prospects", which brought together 188 scholars from Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, and the United States.
The event was moderated by Oksana Homotiuk, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Yurii Shcherbiak, Deputy Dean of the Faculty, both professors of the Department of Information and Socio-Cultural Activities.
The conference was opened by Mykola Dyvak, Vice-Rector for Research of WUNU: "Dear colleagues! Joint, hard work and exchange of experience always contribute to the development and improvement of social and humanitarian education, its adaptation to the conditions of today, the challenges and needs of our society. I wish the participants fruitful discussions, interesting thoughts and new ideas!"
During the plenary session, Roman Nedilskyi, Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, Svitlana Baitaliuk, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, Petr Tirpak, Doctor of Theology, Associate Professor, Dean of the Greek Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Prešov, Slovakia, Yuriy Popovych, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Prešov, addressed the participants.
Oksana Homotiuk, Dean of the FSSH, welcomed the participants and said: "Today's conference is an exciting event for the scientific community. It brings together experts from around the world who are ready to share their experience and knowledge to overcome the challenges facing social and humanitarian education in times of war. We work together for the advancement of education!"
Father Dr Yevhen Kobylniak, prefect of the Patriarch Josyf Slipyj Higher Seminary, also joined the conference.
Key issues of the plenary sessions: "Identity and Resilience of Ukrainian Society in the Context of War: Dynamics, Impact and Prospects", "Important Aspects of Training Diplomatic Personnel of Ukraine in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War", "Neuro-pedagogical Aspects of Brain Development and Early Childhood", "European Technologies of Interaction in the Ukrainian Experience of Preschool Education Institutions", "Adaptation of Refugee Students from Ukraine to the Educational Process in Polish Schools", "The Image of the Mother in Polish and Ukrainian Parables", raised in the reports of prof. Tetiana Bevz, diplomat Liudmyla Nedilska, prof. Hanna Tsvetkova, prof. Kateryna Krutii, prof. Liliia Rebukha and prof. Iryna Shkitska aroused great interest among the participants of the event, and the speakers received many favourable comments.
The work of the sections "Social and Psychological Aspects of Personal Life in Conditions of Social Uncertainty", "Socio-Cultural and Information Transformations of the Humanitarian Sphere in the Period of Global Social Challenges", "Current Trends in the Development of Secondary and Higher Education in Ukraine in the Time of War: From Tradition to Innovation", "Actual Problems of Preschool and Primary Education: Ukrainian and International Innovative Experience" was also fruitful.
This year's conference had a special cultural backdrop: during its work, a photo exhibition was held in the building of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, featuring photographs of faculty members in Borshchiv embroidered shirts, and the event ended with the joint painting of Poppies in the courtyard of the FSSH building.
