Good deeds unite good people. We are heartened by the fact that Jan van Zwieten, a member of the Supervisory Board of WUNU and Rector of the Netherlands Business Academy, donated EUR 4 000 to the Charitable Foundation "Brother for Brother to Victory" in support of the Ukrainian military, the soldiers of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade from Ternopil region.

The funds were raised by a young entrepreneur from the Netherlands, Daf Dubbelman, who is a father of two and the son of a professor at the Netherlands Business Academy. Daf, a successful owner of two companies in Amsterdam, is also known for his athleticism, particularly in running. He took part in the Marathon des Sables, one of the most difficult endurance events in the world, where he ran 252 km across the desert. The marathoner believes that this is a mission. A mission to endure hardship by choice, and to raise awareness and support for those who face even greater challenges without a choice.

He says: "By sleeping on the ground, facing extreme temperatures and eating limited food and water, we will experience only a small fraction of what many people around the world endure every day for much longer periods. This is our voluntary challenge now, but it is also the harsh reality for countless people every day."

The marathon participants received sponsorship money, so Daf asked for advice on a charity to which the money could be donated. Jan van Zwieten, who has a long-standing relationship with Ukrainian higher education institutions and organisations, suggested that the money be donated to the Ukrainian military. Daf immediately agreed.

We express our sincere gratitude to Jan van Zwieten and Daf Dubbelman for their support and significant contribution to the defence of our country. Such international solidarity is extremely important in these difficult times.
