Day three of I-WEEK 2024!
The Sixth International Week continues at West Ukrainian National University.
The third day began with the session ‘Youth Activism: Collective Action and Strategic Communication in Times of Crisis and War’, delivered by William Frick, PhD, Professor at the University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) and the University of Oklahoma (United States of America). In his speech, the speaker focused on the theoretical foundations of activism, strategic communications, collective action and networking, image creation and management, international experience, and the development of youth initiatives.
Dr Olena Nifatova, a professor at the University of Barcelona (Spain), gave a lecture on green marketing, key concepts and the dangers of greenwashing.
I-WEEK participants had the opportunity to listen to the lecture ‘Work. Employment. Tourism industry. What we're looking forward to and ready for’. Agita Donina, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Business at Turiba University (Latvia), spoke about global trends, the current state and prospects of the tourism industry, the specifics and peculiarities of working in the hospitality industry, and the development of personal competencies.
The third day of the International Week continued with the workshop ‘Austria's Mobility and Internationalisation Strategy and New Innovative Forms of Mobility (Mixed Mobility)’. During the meeting, Dr.h.c. Thomas Bauer, Coordinator of the Institutional and Erasmus+ International Office (Austria), was pleased to talk to the students of WUNU. He noted that in the context of globalisation, the mobility strategy is a key aspect for ensuring the competitiveness of education, stressed the importance of introducing innovative forms of mobility, and emphasised the need for cooperation between universities from different countries to create new opportunities for students and faculty.
Dr Johannes Drerup, a professor at TU Dortmund (Germany), spoke about democratic education in times of war. The lecturer focused on the preservation of democratic values, the need to ensure equal access to education and the adaptation of educational systems to war conditions.
As part of the 6th International Week, Prof. Arthur Rot, Head of the Department of Information Systems at Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (Poland), gave a lecture entitled ‘Information Technologies Driving Change’, during which faculty, international partners and students discussed modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and their impact on the economy and business.
Danijela Vuletic Cugalj, PhD, presented the CERGE-EI programme and awarded certificates to students and teachers of WUNU who attended courses in behavioural economics. They studied the basics of behavioural theories and analysed the process of economic decision-making.
Dr. hab. Anetta Zielińska, a professor at the Wroclaw University of Economics (Poland) and an honorary doctor of WUNU, delivered an open lecture on ‘Reverse Logistics: Examples of Best Practices’. Students of the Faculty of Economics and Management of WUNU joined the meeting.
WUNU faculty and students also took part in the online presentation ‘International Transfer of Project Activities: Innovation, Environmental Management and Infrastructure’.
The Vice-Rector for International Relations Ulyana Koruts held a special meeting with the international partners of West Ukrainian National University, during which she presented them with the certificates of ‘Visiting Professor of West Ukrainian National University’. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Education and Research Centre for Communications Oksana Koval, the Director of the International Centre for Culture and Development Olga Tsaryk, and the Head of the International Relations Office Yuliia Voityshyn.
Certificates were awarded to Thomas Bauer, William Frick, Latif Durlanik, Arthur Rot, Wolfgang Dorner, Jan van Zwieten, Steve Alban Tineo, Paul Fisher, and Philip Brown.
Olesia Okarysnka, director of M&C Mixology bar manager at Ledarman caterers ( USA), gave an interesting lecture on innovative catering events in the USA.
At the end of the day, a presentation of the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2025 was held.
