From theory to practice!
The 2nd year students majoring in Legal Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of WUNU, as part of their Media Production course, worked in a film and photography studio where they had the opportunity to try themselves as TV presenters and journalists.
Serhii Kozlovskyi and Oleksandr Kravchuk, employees of the Information and Public Relations Office, spoke about the peculiarities of the filming process: working in the frame, with a prompter...
The students practised reading the news without losing the naturalness and expressiveness of their speech. It is important to keep in touch with the viewer and be confident and convincing. In addition, future journalists mastered on-camera work, practised their speech techniques, gestures and facial expressions, and created news stories. The class covered all stages of television production.
Olena Vasylkiv, Associate Professor of the Department of Information and Socio-Cultural Activities, spoke about the multidimensional nature of journalism and noted: ‘Today's journalist claims to be a ‘lord of opinions’, and this is an extraordinary responsibility to the public. Therefore, you need to work hard, improve yourself and hone your skills in practice. Working in the studio gives you the opportunity to experience the realities of a media professional: from preparation to work in the studio."
During the active discussion, the students proposed to launch a WUNU News programme in a video format to cover all the events and relevant information of West Ukrainian National University.
It is crucial for students to gain practical experience, as it provides invaluable opportunities for in-depth study, professional development and familiarity with work processes. Furthermore, it allows them to explore different roles within the journalism industry and enhance their professional skills.
We invite everyone to try themselves as a TV presenter. Please contact us by phone: 0352 51 75 63 - Olena Vasylkiv.
