WUNU students conducted field research
Faculty members of the Department of Ecology and Health Care of the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure of West Ukrainian National University together with students majoring in 101 "Ecology" took samples of surface waters of the Ikva River as part of the "Environmental Monitoring" course.
The research was carried out using state-of-the-art equipment from the American oceanographic company Green Water Marine, which made it possible to obtain highly accurate water quality data.
During the monitoring, samples were taken to determine key indicators, such as pH, concentration of nitrogen and phosphate compounds, and water temperature.
These field studies gave students the opportunity to learn about sampling methods in natural conditions, how to work with modern equipment and analyse the data obtained. Such laboratory classes are an important part of the training for environmental specialists, as they allow for a better understanding of ecological processes in aquatic ecosystems and environmental monitoring skills.
