Savings Week at WUNU is here!
The history of World Savings Day began in Milan, when in October 1924, representatives of savings banks from 29 countries gathered for the First International Savings Bank Congress. 31 October 1924 was the last day of the congress, where Italian professor Filippo Ravizza proposed to celebrate this day as ‘World Savings Day’ every year. Since then, many countries around the world have been celebrating this day, and this year, World Savings Day celebrates its 100th anniversary.
The faculty of the S.I. Yuriy Department of Finance started the tradition of celebrating the All-Ukrainian Savings Week at West Ukrainian National University. Students of WUNU have the opportunity to deepen their financial knowledge not only in the course of studying the discipline ‘Finance’ (course leader is Associate Professor Svitlana Koval), but also by participating in exciting interactive events.
This year's Savings Week began with the Financial Games organised by students of the EME-21 group. Students of the Faculties of Economics and Management and Finance and Accounting took part in the Financial Games, split into 5 teams: Alpha and Omega, Balance Sheet Masters, Cuckoos, Aperol, and Accountants.
The competitions organised by the organisers allowed the participants to test their knowledge of savings, financial policy, financial flows, taxes, and to demonstrate their understanding of basic financial concepts and terms. The participants of the event showed great erudition, creativity, teamwork, quick thinking and financial knowledge.
Participation in the Financial Battle inspired many people to deepen their financial knowledge and share it with their friends and family. The event coordinator, Associate Professor Svitlana Koval, expressed her gratitude to the event organisers on behalf of all those present for the high level of preparation and creative approach.
