Mobility program within the framework of the international project "Empowering Youth: Democracy in Action"
West Ukrainian National University has joined an international project that brings together young people from the Czech Republic, Poland, and Ukraine to promote democratic values and civic engagement.
From 7 to 13 December 2024, the project ‘Empowering Youth: Democracy in Action’ was held to promote democratic principles, develop active citizenship skills, and create a platform for international youth cooperation.
The initiative is co-funded by the governments of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia under the Visegrad Grants of the International Visegrad Fund and with additional support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. The Foundation's mission is to promote sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe. https://www.visegradfund.org
The event was organised by the NGO Educational and Social Innovation in partnership with West Ukrainian National University, University of Rzeszow (Poland) and Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic).
Participants joined two thematic mobilities:
First part - "Fundamentals of Democracy", which ran in Prague (7-10 December) and included a series of lectures, workshops and practical exercises. The students studied the key principles of democracy, developed intercultural communication skills, and visited the sights of the Czech capital.
Second part - "Development of social activism", held in Rzeszow (10-13 December). Participants worked on developing social projects, learned to work effectively in teams, and presented their initiatives aimed at solving pressing community problems.
The project ‘Empowering Youth: Democracy in Action’ has become a unique platform for international dialogue and exchange of experience, as it was an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge, but also to meet young people from other countries, exchange experiences and broaden worldviews. Participants noted the excellent event management and interesting programmes that allowed them to better understand democratic processes and the role of youth in shaping civil society.
The project was implemented under the coordination of Olha Tsaryk, Professor of the Department of ICT, Director of the International Centre for Culture and Development, Liliia Krysovata, International Communications Specialist at the ICCD, and representatives of partner universities. We thank all the participants, organisers and partners of the project for their support and active participation in the implementation of this important initiative. Your contribution to the development of democracy and civic engagement is irreplaceable.
