Training for library workers
The Education and Research Centre for Social and Psychological Support and Resilience of West Ukrainian National University teaches how to maintain psychological resilience and develop emotional intelligence.
On 6 February, the Centre hosted a workshop for library professionals entitled ‘Resilience as a Necessary Skill for a Modern Librarian’. Daily work with user requests, information flows and challenges of the digital age requires librarians to be stress-resistant, productive and motivated even in difficult circumstances.
Together with Zoriana Krupnyk, a specialist at the Centre, Associate Professor of Psychology and Social Work, the participants learned basic self-help skills based on the protocols of the Israel Trauma Coalition aimed at preserving and restoring their psycho-emotional well-being, and mastered useful exercises and coping strategies. The students positively responded to the introduction to the Four Elements protocol and new techniques for maintaining their mental health, and were active and enthusiastic.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ternopil City Central Library System and West Ukrainian National University to promote further cooperation. The Centre for Social and Psychological Support and Resilience will be responsible for implementing the provisions of the memorandum.
