Educational seminar ‘Legal Status of Ukrainian Refugees in the EU: Challenges and Prospects’
On 11 February 2025, the Law Faculty of West Ukrainian National University hosted an educational seminar ‘Legal Status of Ukrainian Refugees in the EU: Challenges and Prospects’.
The event was organised jointly with the Ternopil Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module ‘Environmental Migration and Displacement in the EU’ 101174695 - EUROPE- Jean Monnet ERASMUS-JMO-2024-HEI-TCH-RSCH.
The participants discussed temporary protection in the EU: the rights of Ukrainians and specific procedures; legal aid to refugees: effective mechanisms and successful cases; the main challenges and prospects for Ukrainian migrants.
The colleagues came to the conclusion that it is important to improve the mechanisms for protecting Ukrainian refugees in the EU, and that access to quality legal aid should be expanded.
