First place in the SCImago Institutions Rankings-2025!
West Ukrainian National University is ranked first among Ukrainian higher education institutions in the global SCImago Institutions Rankings-2025 in the Innovation section!
The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is an annual ranking that evaluates more than 8,000 research institutions worldwide, including universities, government agencies, healthcare organisations, companies and non-profit organisations.
The ranking is based on three main groups of criteria:
1. Research: includes eleven indicators related to publications and citations obtained from the Scopus database (50%).
2. Innovation: assessed by the number of patents and other innovation indicators (30%).
3. Social impact: measured by internet visibility and societal impact (20%).
These criteria evaluate the contribution of institutions to scientific research, their innovative activities and impact on society. The ranking is an opportunity to compare the effectiveness of different institutions and identify leaders in the field of science and innovation.
