West Ukrainian National University hosted the graduation ceremony for the second group of internally displaced persons who completed the retraining and social adaptation programme in entrepreneurship as part of the TURBO project “The Universities’ Reaction to Big Obstructions: Building resilient higher education to respond and manage societal crises”. The event marked the successful conclusion of a three-month joint journey.

At West Ukrainian National University, participants of the retraining and social adaptation programme for internally displaced persons are currently undertaking studies in the field of ‘Entrepreneurship’, which is being implemented as part of the international TURBO project (‘The Universities’ Reaction to Big Obstructions: Building resilient higher education to respond and manage societal crises’). This project aims to support IDPs, develop entrepreneurial skills, facilitate professional adaptation to new living conditions, and create opportunities for self-fulfilment.

A meeting was recently held between undergraduate and postgraduate students and lecturers from the ‘Political Science’ programme at the Serhii Konoval Department of Political Science and Philosophy and Andreas Umland, PhD (in Political Science and History), an analyst at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs and an expert on Euro-Atlantic cooperation. The meeting was moderated by Myroslava Huryk, PhD in History and Associate Professor at the Serhii Konoval Department of Political Science and Philosophy.

On 6 November 2025, within the framework of the International Peace Festival, the University of Brescia (Italy) hosted the international academic seminar “Le Trasformazioni della NATO e la difesa europea” (Transformations of NATO and European Defence), organized by the University for Peace (U4P) Centre within the Department of Law.
Taking care of mental health
As part of the TURBO project (“The Universities’ Reaction to Big Obstructions: Building resilient higher education to respond and manage societal crises”), training sessions on psychological first aid were held for internally displaced persons participating in the project. These initiatives are designed to support people who have suffered from the war and were forced to leave their homes. They help restore emotional balance, develop self-help skills, and strengthen psychological resilience in new living conditions.

Friends, just imagine: two talented students, two brilliant eco-projects, an expert panel led by Acting Rector Viktor Ostroverkhov, project manager, Chair of the Academic Council and Head of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance Andriy Krysovatyy, and 20,000 UAH to make their dreams a reality! This is exactly how the university grant pitching event concluded on 5 November at West Ukrainian National University – the finale of the project ‘European Inclusive Circular Economy: A Post-Pandemic Module for Ukraine’ as part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module programme.

The V International Scientific Readings named after Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of WUNU’s founding, took place at the B. Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations.
